Ronald Clifford Meyer

Ron Meyer was born in Appleton, Wisconsin and died at age 83 on September 3rd, 2026 in Boulder County where he lived for over 40 years of his life. His heart belongs to both places.

Ron was a lifelong philosopher and seeker of truths. Over the course of his life he worked in many diverse fields, from early childhood development to soil engineering but most predominantly he was a prolific producer of media of all kinds.

Ron produced an environmental radio show, a political talk show, and he wrote, produced and directed hundreds of educational and documentary programs and several feature films. With his writing partner and friend, Mark Reeder, he authored many books ranging from political thrillers to science fiction novels and historical fiction for young adults. Fittingly, in the last decade of his life his focus turned to an exploration of the paranormal and near death experiences. He spoke about his work in this area at conventions all over the country and appeared on podcasts all over the world.

A fossil collector from childhood, with his good friend, Jerry Gunderson, Ron made numerous important scientific discoveries. He donated thousands of specimens to the Universities of Wisconsin and Colorado, The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Ron was passionate about prairie restoration and environmental preservation. He was a black belt in Aikido, a golfer and an enthusiastic fan of all sports, but especially of football. He was a committed, emotional and deeply conflicted fan of both the Packers and the Broncos.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Helen Meyer, and his sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Gary Gallant. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Diane Evans, his son, Joel (Cara) Meyer-England, his grandchildren, Zayla and Ryker, and Joel’s mother, Tamara. He is survived by his daughter, Anna (Alan) Megargle, his sister, Nancy (Bob) Wittman, his father-in-law, John, mother-in-law, Virginia, brother-in-law, John (Linda), nieces, Nikki and Sara and nephews Scott, Keith, Brent, Drew, Kirk, Matthew and their families. He is also survived by Fate, “The best dog we ever had.” Ron was an intrepid dog walker, and he was a fixture in our Louisville neighborhood. He would engage with every man, woman, child or dog who crossed his path.

Ron inspired us, nourished us, frustrated us, shepherded our dreams and loved us fiercely. We will miss him fiercely and we hope he has found what he was searching for. A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2027. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Nature Conservancy.
