In Loving Memory

Marybelle Hoffman

1932 – 2023

Marybelle A. Hoffman, nee Marybelle Apgar, passed away peacefully at home after a brief period of decline. She was 91 years of age with an active mind and will.

Born in 1932 in Hampton, NJ, to Bernard and Beatrice Apgar, she was one of 6 children; Jean Spearance, Richard Apgar, Joanne Kotch, and is survived by one sister, Judy Neustadt, of Ocean Park, MD. Marybelle lived and worked in New York City for a brief time after high school and prior to marrying Carl M. Hoffman, a local man from High Bridge, NJ, in 1951.

She is survived by her three children, Suzanne (Hoffman) Caron, Jeffrey Carl Hoffman, and Jon Apgar Hoffman. The family relocated from NJ to Colorado and made the family home in Wheat Ridge, CO, where she was employed by Central Bank, the original Frontier Airlines, and United Airlines, from which she retired in 1997.

Her life interests included snow skiing, golf, and tennis until her early 70’s. Travelling to as much of the world as possible was a lifelong and avid interest, including numerous visits to the Jersey Shore to vacation with family.

She was proud to be part of the Apgar family legacy including distant lineage to Dr.Virginia Apgar, known for the Apgar Score, still used by hospitals today to assess the health of newborn infants.

A funeral is not planned as Marybelle wished her ashes scattered by family in some of her favorite places and some to be buried under her headstone in the family plot in NJ.
