In Loving Memory of Isidro (Chilo) Michael Gonzalez May 16, 1981 – October 1, 2026

Isidro (Chilo) Michael Gonzalez was born on May 16, 1981, at Mercy Hospital in Roseburg, Oregon, to Isidro Estrada Gonzalez and Ronda Lynn Huff. On October 1, 2026, he began his rest, leaving behind a family who loves him beyond words and countless people whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Tiffany Gonzalez; his children, Caleb and Carmen Gonzalez, Angelica Gonzalez, Isaiah and Talia Kegans, Leila Gonzalez, Isabella Denny, Isidro Gonzalez, and Lieli Gonzalez; and his grandson, Ezra Gonzalez. He also leaves behind his loving extended family, friends, students, fellow fighters, and countless connections made throughout his life.

From childhood, Chilo had a servant's heart. He was the kind of child who helped his neighbors carry in their groceries and stood up for others who were being bullied. Even at a young age, he showed the qualities that would define him throughout his life: a willingness to help, a protective spirit, and a deep sense of loyalty to those around him.

His love of wrestling began in middle school and eventually set him on a path into mixed martial arts. Chilo became a professional MMA fighter, submission specialist, coach, mentor, and respected figure in Colorado's fighting community. Throughout his years in the sport, he dedicated himself not only to competition but also to helping build the community around it. He took pride in sharing his knowledge and had a gift for teaching in a way that people could understand, remember, and carry with them long after the lesson ended. To those he trained and mentored, he offered more than technical skill; he shared experience, guidance, and lessons that extended beyond the mat.

Chilo was also a talented finish carpenter whose work can be found in homes and buildings throughout Oregon and Colorado, from basements to skyscrapers. He took his skills wherever life led him, leaving a piece of his craftsmanship behind in the places he helped build.

Yet, for all his accomplishments, Chilo's heart had always belonged to the land and the animals he loved. His fascination with animals began in childhood, when he caught scorpions, lizards, and tarantulas and spent time around the pigs and chickens on his grandparents' property in Zacatecas, Mexico. Those early experiences planted a dream of becoming a farmer, a dream he would one day fulfill.

Chilo accomplished his goal of owning land and caring for animals. He learned to brand cattle, butcher, and tend a garden, embracing the hands-on work that came with the life he wanted. Even when he lived in the city, he always found room for a garden and a way to keep chickens, often breaking the rules with too many and still getting away with it! His determination to live life on his own terms was just one of the many things that made him unmistakably Chilo.

He was funny, quick-witted, and never one to mince words. He was loving, dedicated, and fiercely protective of the people he cared about. He had a way of making an impression, whether through his humor, his honesty, his strength, or the time he took to help someone else. He was a fighter in the ring, a builder by trade, a farmer at heart, and a teacher to many.

Chilo was a pursuing and dedicated husband. From the day he met Tiffany, he told their coworkers he was, “going to marry that girl one day.” Together, they shared adventures, built a life, and cultivated an unmistakable love. They were best friends. Tiffany will forever be thankful for the life they shared and the love that will always connect them in this life and the next.

Above all, Chilo was a follower of Christ. His faith was an essential part of who he was, and his family takes comfort in entrusting him to YHWH as he enters his rest.

Though his time here was cut far too short, the impact of his life cannot be measured in years alone. It lives on in the family he loved, the people he taught, the places he helped build, the land he cared for, and the countless memories carried by those fortunate enough to have known him.

Chilo is missed beyond words. His love, his laughter, his lessons, his spiciness and his unmistakable spirit will remain with us always.

He will always be loved. He will always be remembered. He will always be.
